Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Head Women's Wrestling Coach

Location: Springfield, Massachusetts | Type: Full-time | Annual Salary: $52,000 - $57,000

About the role

This is a full-time, nine-month, program-track appointment reporting to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate will serve as the inaugural Head Women's Wrestling Coach, responsible for establishing and leading Springfield College's new women's wrestling program. In the first year, the primary focus will be on recruiting student-athletes, building the inaugural roster, and creating a strong program foundation. Thereafter, the coach will oversee all aspects of the women's wrestling program, including recruiting, coaching, student-athlete development, scheduling, and program administration.

The role also includes a faculty appointment in the Department of Physical Education and Health Education, with responsibility for teaching departmental coursework.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the College's new women's wrestling program
• Recruit student-athletes and build the inaugural roster
• Create a strong program foundation in the first year
• Oversee all aspects of the women's wrestling program, including coaching, student-athlete development, scheduling, and program administration
• Ensure compliance with NCAA (Division III), NEWMAC, and institutional rules and regulations
• Teach coursework in the Department of Physical Education and Health Education

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited institution (required)
• Educational background in Physical Education or a related discipline (preferred)
• At least two years of college teaching and/or head college coaching experience (preferred)
• Valid driver's license, CPR, and AED certification (required)
• Commitment to working in a dynamic setting with a diverse student population
