About the role
The Department of Physics and Engineering at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in engineering. This role supports the pursuit of ABET accreditation for our established engineering program. Candidates will teach across the engineering curriculum, mentor undergraduates in research, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive academic community.
Responsibilities
- Teach first-year introductory courses, required sophomore and junior engineering courses and labs, and upper-level topical electives in your area of expertise.
- Mentor undergraduates in a productive research program (engineering-related area of research is open).
- Support the department’s mission of fostering engaged citizenship through open and substantive dialogue.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a field of engineering (required by time of appointment).
- Undergraduate teaching or professional engineering experience (highly desirable).

Pay
Expected salary range: $94,000 – $105,000, based on education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market considerations.
