About the role

The School of Biological Sciences, Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of Developmental Biology. Candidates working on cutting-edge questions related to developmental biology or regeneration in any animal, plant, or cellular system are welcome to apply. Those focused on advancing mechanistic (e.g., molecular, genetic, biophysical) biological discoveries through multi-scale research at organellar to organismal levels are strongly encouraged.

Required faculty responsibilities include developing an excellent research program supported by extramural funding, teaching undergraduate and graduate students, and participating in service activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an excellent research program supported by extramural funding.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Participate in service activities within the department and university.

Qualifications

  • At the time of application, applicants must hold a PhD in Biology or a related field.
  • Document at least two concrete goals for planned scholarly and creative activities in the statement of professional activities.
  • Have at least three publications or preprints that demonstrate research experience and/or experience relevant to planned scholarly activities.
  • Demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to the undergraduate and/or graduate educational programs of the School of Biological Sciences and to support students’ educational and academic success, as evidenced by relevant teaching, mentoring, training, or outreach experience.

Pay

The posted UC Academic salary scales set the minimum pay as determined by rank and/or step at appointment. The base salary range for this position is $88,300-$108,900. A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $132,100-$150,800. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, such as a salary higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.
