About the role

The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper-division biology courses in areas such as cell and molecular biology, development, neurobiology, or related fields and will receive mentorship in effectively adopting evidence-based pedagogies and strategies to enhance student success. The candidate will also mentor undergraduate research projects and contribute to activities serving the Department, College, University, and external community.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory and upper-division biology courses (cell and molecular biology, development, neurobiology, or related fields)
• Adopt evidence-based pedagogies and strategies to enhance student success
• Mentor undergraduate research projects
• Contribute to departmental, college, university, and external community service activities

Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in Molecular/Cellular Biology or closely related field (ABD candidates considered if degree is conferred by hire date)
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• Commitment to exploring evidence-based, student-centered instructional practices
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community serving regional students

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to mentor active undergraduate research projects
• Demonstrated intercultural competence in teaching, research, and/or service
• Experience working with undergraduates from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for underrepresented groups
• Experience with modern neurobiology and computational approaches, and the ability to incorporate these into undergraduate research training and courses

Pay

• Anticipated hiring salary range: $7,834–$8,474 per month
• CSU classification salary range: $6,221–$13,224 per month
