About the role

Duties and responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a robust program of research in palliative care and germane to nursing and health that is supported by extramural funding.
  • Maintain a high level of scholarly activity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
  • Contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the University by mentoring students and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned.
  • Service to the college, university, and profession.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree or other research degree at time of appointment.
  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • CV potential for/actual research, scholarship, and teaching effectiveness.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in writing skills.
  • Clinical expertise in palliative care.
  • Eligible for RN or APRN licensure in Rhode Island.
  • Able to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral training related to program of research in the focus area.
  • Demonstrated experience in classroom and/or clinical teaching.
  • Evidence of successful research collaborations.
  • Demonstrated ability to write competitive applications for extramural funding.
