About the role

The University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing at Galveston invites applications for a full-time faculty position (non-tenure track) in the Undergraduate program. Founded in 1890, the School of Nursing was the first nursing program in the Southwest and one of the first schools in the U.S. to be affiliated with a university in 1896. As a component of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), the school of nursing offers academic programs at the baccalaureate, Masters, and Doctoral levels.

UTMB provides a rich interprofessional environment conducive to teaching, practice, and research across the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Health Professions Sciences, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The School of Nursing has a state-of-the-art laboratory for bio-behavioral research, a Community Space for Health and Wellbeing, the Research Innovation and Scientific Excellence center, and other faculty resources.

Responsibilities

• Effectively use innovative, state-of-the-art teaching methodologies and learning activities that promote excellence in classroom and online instruction.
• Participate in course design, development, implementation, and evaluation to provide appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Maintain academic excellence in education, practice, and/or research through participation in continuing education programs.
• Serve as an academic advisor to students.
• Demonstrate an emerging or established leadership within a defined area of nursing practice.
• Exhibit leadership in clinical settings for increased collaboration with nursing colleagues and other disciplines.
• Disseminate scholarly work in peer-review publications and present at state, national, and international meetings.
• Direct and engage in scholarship that contributes to the advancement of nursing knowledge and nursing science.
• Actively engage in School of Nursing and university committees.
• Participate actively in local, state, national, and international professional organizations.

Requirements

• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.

Qualifications

• An earned doctoral degree in nursing or related field (preferred).
• Teaching experience at the university level (preferred).
• Clinical experience in their specialty area (preferred).
• A defined program of scholarship (preferred).
