Assistant Professor in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (2 Positions)
About the role
The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering offers B.S. programs in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, M.S. programs in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and a Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a graduate certificate in 3D Engineering and Additive Manufacturing. In Fall 2025, the department enrolled 1,735 students, including 1,590 undergraduates, 75 master's students, and 70 doctoral students. The department has an active, collaborative research culture, and strong engagement of graduate students. Faculty have access to extensive research infrastructure and interdisciplinary partnerships, including the Aerospace Center, the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation, and the Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center. The new approximately 93,000-square-foot, $80 million Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center expands laboratories, teaching spaces, and collaboration opportunities in advanced manufacturing, aerospace systems, materials, autonomy, and related fields. The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for two Aerospace Engineering faculty positions beginning in Fall 2027. Relevant departmental strengths and opportunities include autonomous aerospace systems, orbital mechanics and astrodynamics, spacecraft dynamics and control, close-proximity operations, space situational awareness, aerospace materials, propulsion, hypersonics, and space systems design.
