Assistant Professor, History of Science and Medicine

About the role

The History Department at The University of Scranton invites applications for a tenure-track position in the History of Science and Medicine to begin the 2027-28 academic year.

Responsibilities

• Teach World History survey courses and upper-level courses in the field, which may include Science and Society, History of Science, Global Environmental History, and/or Medical History.
• Contribute to the Health Humanities and/or Environmental Studies concentrations.
• Maintain a pre-tenure teaching load of 18 credits per year.
• Maintain a well-defined research agenda.
• Contribute to the service needs of the department and university.

Requirements

History PhD by time of appointment.

Schedule

Full‑time position with a 9‑month annual schedule.
