Assistant Professor- Graphic Design
Position Summary
The Department of Art + Design at Austin Peasy State University (APSU) is seeking applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to begin in August 2024.
About the Role
The APSU Department of Art + Design is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers BFA and BA degrees in Graphic Design, with concentrations in Studio Art, Animation and Visual Effects, Art History, and Art Education. The department consists of sixteen full-time faculty, three full-time staff, and fifteen part-time instructors who celebrate the mission of teaching and innovation in serving 300+ undergraduate majors. In Fall of 2017 the Department moved into a new $21.3 million-dollar, 46,000 square feet Art + Design Building, featuring custom studio space for all the concentrations.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Graphic Design, including Studio Art, Animation and Visual Effects, Art History, and Art Education
- Develop and maintain a strong portfolio of student work
- Contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum
- Participate in departmental and university committees
- Engage in scholarly activities and professional development
Requirements
- PhD in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or related field
- Experience teaching Graphic Design at the college level
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in Graphic Design
- Ability to teach a variety of courses within the department
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
