Assistant Professor, Experimental Particle and Nuclear Physics

About the role
We encourage applicants doing research in all areas of nuclear and particle physics. Research groups in the MIT Laboratory for Nuclear Science focus on strong interaction physics, nuclear structure physics, electroweak symmetry breaking, dark matter searches, neutrino physics, physics beyond the standard model, new detector development, and the physics of beams.
Faculty members conduct research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and supervise graduate and undergraduate participation in research. Candidates must demonstrate promise in both teaching and research.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in physics or a physics-related discipline by the start of employment.
- Demonstrated promise in teaching and research.

Pay
The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is $140,000 – $156,000. This range represents base pay only and does not include benefits or other compensation. The final offer will be based on factors such as scope of the position, candidate experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements.
