About the role

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene Department, to begin in the Fall 2026 semester.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general oversight and direct supervision of dental hygienists in the college’s dental hygiene clinic.
  • Teach courses in the associate degree program.
  • Evaluate and offer feedback on student projects.
  • Prepare students to become the critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners before entering the dental hygiene profession.
  • Engage in productive scholarship.
  • Contribute to reaccreditation requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing student and faculty recruitment activities.

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD degree and NYS dentist license.
  • Ability to teach successfully.
  • Demonstrated scholarship or achievement.
  • Ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of full-time professional practice.
  • Active CPR certification for healthcare providers.
  • Vaccinations for healthcare providers as recommended by the CDC.
  • Prior teaching experience in a diverse, multicultural setting.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong up-to-date knowledge in the field of Dental Hygiene.

Benefits

  • Compensation range: $76,937 to $94,909.
  • Salary commensurate with education and experience.
  • Benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
  • Mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of ongoing faculty professional development.

Pay

$76,937 to $94,909. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.

Schedule

Full-time position, beginning in the Fall 2026 semester.
