About the role

The Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology, and Counseling invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August of 2026. Employer will consider sponsorship.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Courses in the counseling psychology and counseling core, and courses consistent with teaching expertise in relevant area; participation in departmental clinic training activities.
  • Conduct, publish, and present scholarly research. Keep abreast of recent scholarly developments in areas of specialty and incorporate into teaching.
  • Actively contribute to the intellectual and professional life of the Department, College of Health, Ball State University, and the surrounding community through general service and preventative, developmental and outreach activities. Participate in local and national professional service activities.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in counseling psychology from an APA accredited program in Counseling Psychology by August 15, 2026. ABD candidates will be considered only if all degree requirements will be completed by August 15, 2026.
  • Professional competence to teach courses in the department's programs as needed and provide clinical supervision to doctoral students in the department's training clinic, as evidenced by at least one year of college-level teaching experience either gained concurrently or at any time, OR two years of professional experience.
  • Competence in a specialty area within counseling psychology as demonstrated by publications and professional conference presentations.
  • License-eligible as a Health Service Provider in Psychology in the State of Indiana.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly qualified scholar with the ability to contribute to the department’s counseling psychology scientist-professional training model.
  • Demonstrated research, teaching, and mentoring experiences with graduate students.
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates who can contribute to all graduate programs in the department with the ability to mentor students, facilitate immersive learning experiences, and teach courses and train students in (a) counseling skills, (b) psychological assessment, (c) health psychology, and/or (d) and/or providing services to children/adolescents.
