Assistant Professor - Clarinet

About the role

This full‑time tenure‑track Assistant Professor – Clarinet position is located in the Department of Music at the University of Wisconsin‑Stevens Point, housed in the state‑of‑the‑art Noel Fine Arts Center (built 2004). The department comprises 28 faculty and staff (18 full‑time) and offers a strong music education curriculum with performing ensembles (bands, orchestras, choirs, opera, jazz ensembles, chamber music) and degree programs including the BA in Music, BM in Music Education, Performance, and Jazz Studies, and the MM in Music Education.

Responsibilities

• Teach applied clarinet and music theory courses.
• Perform other duties assigned by the department chair.
• Participate in student recruitment, retention, and advising.
• Contribute to a vibrant, collegial departmental environment.

Requirements

• Strong classical performer and proven teacher.
• Doctorate in music OR a Master’s degree in music with at least four years of college‑level teaching experience and active professional performance experience.

Qualifications

• DMA in Clarinet Performance (preferred).
• University teaching experience (preferred).
• Degree, certificate, cognate, or minor in music theory (preferred).

Pay

$58,734 minimum, based on qualifications and experience.
