Position Summary

This is a full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2024.

About the role

The Department of Art and Design at Austin Peay State University seeks an Assistant Professor to join our dynamic and innovative team. The successful candidate will contribute to our accredited BFA and BA programs with concentrations in Studio Art, Graphic Design, Animation and Visual Effects, Art History, and Art Education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of courses in 3D Foundations and Sculpture, including but not limited to sculpture techniques, digital modeling, and installation art.
  • Develop and maintain a vibrant studio practice that aligns with the department's commitment to teaching and innovation.
  • Participate in departmental and university committees as needed.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publication, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with students on individual projects and mentorship.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field by the start date.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in 3D Foundations and Sculpture.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate students.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Passion for teaching and mentoring students.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary approaches to art and design.

Skills

  • Proficiency in digital sculpting software.
  • Experience with installation art and exhibition design.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging lectures and critiques.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Schedule
