About the role

Rosewood Market is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager to join our dynamic and passionate team. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and develop a team while contributing to the success of a beloved local market.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Produce Manager in overall department performance, efficiency, and day-to-day operations
  • Lead and develop the produce team, setting high standards for quality, presentation, and accountability
  • Oversee product receiving, inspecting deliveries, verifying quality, and addressing discrepancies
  • Manage back stock, ensuring proper storage, rotation, and accessibility
  • Absorb responsibilities in the absence of the Produce Manager, keeping the department running smoothly
  • Communicate through company-designated platforms including Homebase and email

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in produce, perishables, or a related grocery/retail environment
  • A sharp eye for quality, understanding what fresh looks like, and not compromising on it
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Experience with ordering, receiving, and inventory management a plus
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and comfortable working in cold environments
  • A genuine passion for fresh, natural, and thoughtfully sourced food
  • Dependable, punctual, and ready to work (including weekends, if needed)
  • A team-first attitude with the initiative to lead when it counts

Qualifications

  • Must be able to periodically work in environments with temperatures below 32 degrees
  • Must communicate by Homebase and email
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Excel is a plus
  • Must adhere to all SC Department of Agriculture food safety requirements including following rules of cooling and storing food properly when applicable
  • Is an active part of the Rosewood Team, adhering to high standards of service, quality, and presentation and displaying the Rosewood Market Core Values
  • Performs other duties as assigned and requested
