Job Summary
Position supports the principal by exercising leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that promote the educational development of each student, the professional development of each staff member, and the overall performance of the school.
Essential Duties
- Aid in implementing procedures and practices to align the school's vision, mission, shared beliefs, and goals.
- Ensure high priority service to students, including responsibility for their academic learning.
- Maintain and evaluate the school's student achievement results.
- Evaluate and appraise the effectiveness of academic programs and staff performance related to student achievement.
- Coordinate school resources, supervise all activities, and maintain the safety and welfare of students and employees.
- Develop and implement a communication plan to involve staff and inform them about school matters.
- Model professionalism, civility, and integrity in all dealings.
- Follow district policies, administrative rules, and state/federal laws and regulations.
- Promote continuous professional growth for all staff members.
- Assist in maintaining discipline and addressing special cases.
- Coordinate support services and co-curricular activities as directed.
- Schedule classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
- Maintain accurate school records and ensure their protection.
Job Specifications
- Master's degree in education administration from an accredited university with graduate study in school leadership and curriculum development.
- Valid South Carolina principal's certificate.
- Five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience at the elementary, middle, or secondary level.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly walks, sits, stands, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, and crouches.
- Frequently lifts or moves up to 40 pounds.
- Mobile to ensure the safety of students.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Manual dexterity for using a telephone and data entry.
- Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
- Speak in audible tones to be understood clearly in person and on the telephone.
Work Environment
- The work environment includes frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds.
- Mobile to ensure the safety of students.
