Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Teacher Development (~20% of role):
    • Serve as an instructional partner to the Principal, providing targeted support to teachers to strengthen instructional practice and drive student academic growth in reading and math
    • Conduct regular formal and informal classroom observations aligned to the school's instructional framework, with a focus on student engagement, rigor, and evidence-based teaching practices
    • Deliver timely, specific, and actionable feedback to teachers following observations that is grounded in student outcomes and aligned to individual growth goals
    • Facilitate one-on-one coaching conversations with teachers to build capacity in areas of identified instructional need, prioritizing early-career teachers and those requiring additional support
    • Partner with the Principal to maintain a consistent observation and feedback cycle that ensures every teacher receives meaningful instructional support throughout the school year
    • Model a growth mindset culture where feedback is welcomed, reflection is routine, and continuous improvement is the standard
  • School Leadership & Team Management (~15% of role):
    • Directly supervise and evaluate operations staff, including nutrition services, custodial, administrative, and support personnel
    • Build a positive, high-performing operations team culture through coaching, professional development, and performance management
    • Lead non-instructional functions of a school, including front office school operations and serve as the content expert for school operations responsible for successfully executing systems, processes, and policies in non-instructional areas, and ensuring state and federal compliance requirements are completed on time
    • Collaborate with school leadership and instructional staff to ensure operational systems align with and support the school's educational mission
    • Lead regular operations team meetings and maintain clear communication protocols across departments
    • Collaborate with the broader CWC school operations staff and learning community, including other school operations leaders across the region, to drive operational best practices across the region
  • Finance and Purchasing (~15% of role):
    • Manage and monitor the school's operational budget, ensuring expenditures align with approved allocations and organizational financial policies
    • Oversee purchasing processes including purchase orders, requisitions, approvals, inventorying, and reconciliation of accounts
    • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports for school leadership as needed
    • Coordinate with the Director of Operations and/or Head of Finance on budget development, audits, and grant compliance
    • Negotiate contracts and monitor spending with vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effectiveness
    • Ensure proper stewardship of school funds, including activity accounts, and fundraising proceeds
    • Manage cash receipts, deposits, and staff reimbursement forms
    • Coordinate with the RSO and ExED to ensure effective implementation of financial policies
  • School Nutrition Program (~15% of role):
    • Oversee the daily operation of the school nutrition program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local nutrition standards and regulations (e.g., USDA NSLP/SBP requirements)
    • Supervise nutrition services staff and coordinate meal planning, procurement, preparation, and service
    • Manage the free and reduced-price meal application process and maintain accurate eligibility records in compliance with privacy requirements
    • Monitor meal participation data, conduct point-of-sale oversight, and ensure accurate reporting to funding agencies
    • Support nutrition program audits and maintain required documentation
    • Communicate with families and staff regarding nutrition program services, menus, and policy changes
  • Facilities Management (~15% of role):
    • Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of all school facilities, grounds, and equipment
    • Oversee corrective maintenance requests in a timely manner and ensure there’s a preventive maintenance schedule in place
    • Supervise custodial and maintenance staff, including scheduling and performance evaluation
    • Manage capital improvement projects, renovations, and construction activities in coordination with the regional facilities team
    • Ensure the school building meets all fire, health, safety, and accessibility codes and passes required inspections
    • Manage facilities-related contracts including janitorial services, HVAC, pest control, landscaping, and security systems in coordination with the regional facilities team
    • Coverage facility scheduling for regular school use as well as community and after-hours events
  • Student Health and Safety (~15% of role):
    • Develop, implement, and maintain school safety plans, emergency response protocols, and crisis management procedures in coordination with local agencies
    • Oversee school health processes, including management of medication administration procedures and compliance with health-related policies
    • Ensure the school maintains required health, safety, and emergency certifications and that staff complete mandated safety training
    • Coordinate required safety drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation) and maintain documentation of all drill activities
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable health codes, ADA requirements, and state/local safety regulations
    • Manage the reporting and follow-up of student and staff accidents, incidents, and workers' compensation claims
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for school safety compliance inspections and liaisons with public health and emergency management agencies
    • Partner with the RSO and School Leadership Team to respond to emergencies
  • Student Information System (~15% of role):
    • Oversee the maintenance of data systems and platforms to ensure that student records are accurate, up-to-date, and secure
    • Oversee daily attendance monitoring, early intervention communication processes, and compliance with compulsory attendance laws
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of attendance, and demographic data to district, state, and federal reporting entities
    • Lead and oversee the student registration process for incoming and newly enrolling students, coordinating across families, front office staff, and instructional teams to ensure a timely, accurate, and welcoming onboarding experience
