About the role
This position is part of the Pine Ridge School, Bureau of Indian Education. As an Assistant Principal, works under the direct supervision of the Principal and will be assigned responsibilities for coordination and supervision of complete sections of the school organization.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and administer all/specific programs and functions of the school, including instruction, food services, student transportation, recreational activities, residential, and special programs.
- Enroll and grade place pupils, organize and schedule pupils and teachers, aides, and service personnel, arrange duty schedules, and workweek to meet regular and special situations.
- Conduct continuing evaluation and appraisal of personnel, programs, and pupils using appropriate measurement instruments and empirical data.
- Assign, supervise, and direct the work of professional and non/para-professional employees, including scheduling and coordinating work assignments, relaying changes in operational/regulatory policies, providing training opportunities, participating in the selection of employees, overseeing performance management of staff, approving leave, and addressing disciplinary concerns.
- Resolve complaints of staff, students, parents, and other clients at the lowest level. Refer to next level when appropriate. Maintain good relationships based on common understanding among teachers, parents, and pupils.
- Be involved and aware of expenditures for school operations within the limits of the annual budget allocations for the school and combined special projects. Participate in the development, proposal writing, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects to take maximum advantage of supplementary funding.
Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid State issued Assistant Principal (or equivalent Administrator) licensure or certification in the State where the position is located. Emergency and provisional certificates may be considered under the conditions that the State certification authority has issued those type of certificates. Applicants with valid State Certification in a State other than where the position is located may be considered. If selected, they will be issued a provisional contract to outline the requirement to obtain full appropriate Certification within two full contract terms. Neither foreign nor DODEA certification is acceptable.

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Pay Setting
Pay setting is determined AFTER selection process and in compliance with personnel provision outlined in 62 BIAM, Chapter 11 and HR Policy Memos. Human Resources Office evaluates education and experience for appropriate credit of increments to be added to the Base Increment of 01.

This position IS NOT covered by Bargaining Unit/Union.
