The Assistant Preconstruction Estimator plays a crucial role in Cooper Steel’s preconstruction process. They are responsible for accurately projecting realistic costs of a job, ensuring costs are kept low, maximizing profits, and maintaining strong business integrity. This position requires analytical and detail-oriented skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with internal teams, and manage multiple tasks.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing costs and budgets for construction projects
- Providing accurate estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
- Collaborating with estimators, project managers, and coordinators to develop project plans
- Preparing and submitting bids and proposals
- Reviewing and analyzing project specifications and drawings
- Identifying potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in preconstruction estimating
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Fluent and comfortable with Microsoft Excel
- Adept at learning new software quickly
