Assistant Portfolio Controller - Nashville | On Site
Vaco is partnering with a growing real estate investment and development firm to hire an Assistant Portfolio Controller for its Nashville team. This is a unique opportunity for a strong real estate/property accounting professional to expand their experience into fund and investment accounting while supporting a diverse portfolio of real estate investments and active development projects.
About the Role
This position will work closely with an experienced accounting leader and provide exposure across property accounting, development activity, and fund-level reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build upon their real estate accounting experience and gain broader exposure to the investment side of the business.
Responsibilities
- Support accounting and financial reporting across multiple real estate properties, funds, and joint ventures
- Manage and review property-level accounting activity, including tenant activity, monthly reporting, reconciliations, and project costs
- Partner with Development and other teams around ongoing construction activity, project budgets, draws, and capitalization
- Assist with quarterly fund reporting, investor statements, capital calls and distributions, management fees, and waterfall calculations
- Support annual audits, tax reporting, lender reporting, and cash management activities
- Work closely with outsourced accounting providers and review property-level financial information
- Partner cross-functionally with teams across Development, Asset Management, Capital Markets, Portfolio Management, and Investor Relations
Qualifications
- 4+ years of accounting experience with a strong real estate/property accounting foundation
- Hands-on Yardi experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Public accounting/audit experience is a plus
- Experience with fund accounting, partnership accounting, investment accounting, development accounting, and/or construction accounting is highly desirable, but not required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Collaborative, proactive personality with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
