Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in planning, community development, public administration, or a related field, plus at least three to five years of progressively responsible professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Working knowledge of Vermont's Planning and Development Act (24 V.S.A. Chapter 117) and municipal zoning and subdivision regulations.
- Confidently read and interpret site plans and construction drawings, apply land use regulations fairly and consistently, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and work collaboratively as part of a close team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day land use permitting and development review.
- Provide expert guidance to residents and applicants.
- Review development applications.
- Interpret and administer land use regulations.
- Conduct site inspections.
- Investigate zoning complaints.
- Collaborate with municipal staff and volunteer boards.
- Play an important role in improving processes, supporting enforcement efforts, and delivering exceptional customer service to the public.
