Responsibilities
- Aid in the development of twelve-month sport-specific resistance programs.
- Create conditioning programs addressing cardiovascular demands of the sport.
- Create flexibility and stretching programs.
- Conduct regular testing and evaluations of student-athletes.
- Provide direct instruction and assessment tools for all student-athletes.
- Document athletes' workout routines.
- Create strength and conditioning manuals for off-season and summer student-athletes.
- Assist with scheduling varsity intercollegiate training facilities.
- Support and communicate with team doctors, nutritionists, athletic trainers, and coaches.
- Provide educational support regarding nutritional and supplemental products.
- Work with coaching staff to implement training aspects including scheduling, technique training, supervision, and goal setting.
- Develop a maintenance schedule for equipment, perform periodic safety checks, and remove unsafe equipment.
- Maintain and enforce policies and procedures for use and risk management of all intercollegiate training facilities.
- Recommend facility upgrades and improvements, including purchasing new equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Exercise Science or related field.
- At least one year of experience.
- Successful background as a performance or strength and conditioning coach.
- Ability to manage and schedule varsity intercollegiate training facilities.
- Ability to develop and administer strength and conditioning programs.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work within the Department of Athletics and communicate effectively with other coaches, students, administrators, and medical training staff.
- Commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
- SCCC certification or CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
