Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development of twelve-month sport-specific resistance programs.
  • Create conditioning programs addressing cardiovascular demands of the sport.
  • Create flexibility and stretching programs.
  • Conduct regular testing and evaluations of student-athletes.
  • Provide direct instruction and assessment tools for all student-athletes.
  • Document athletes' workout routines.
  • Create strength and conditioning manuals for off-season and summer student-athletes.
  • Assist with scheduling varsity intercollegiate training facilities.
  • Support and communicate with team doctors, nutritionists, athletic trainers, and coaches.
  • Provide educational support regarding nutritional and supplemental products.
  • Work with coaching staff to implement training aspects including scheduling, technique training, supervision, and goal setting.
  • Develop a maintenance schedule for equipment, perform periodic safety checks, and remove unsafe equipment.
  • Maintain and enforce policies and procedures for use and risk management of all intercollegiate training facilities.
  • Recommend facility upgrades and improvements, including purchasing new equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Exercise Science or related field.
  • At least one year of experience.
  • Successful background as a performance or strength and conditioning coach.
  • Ability to manage and schedule varsity intercollegiate training facilities.
  • Ability to develop and administer strength and conditioning programs.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work within the Department of Athletics and communicate effectively with other coaches, students, administrators, and medical training staff.
  • Commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
  • SCCC certification or CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
