About the role

The Bariatric team at Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is seeking a full-time, academic bariatric surgeon to join their growing division at University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO).

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent care for an underserved population with poor access to weight-loss procedures.
• Build his/her practice at this new site, with support from the department.
• Teach both students and residents.
• Expand the robust clinical research in the division.

Requirements

• A willingness to work hard to build his/her practice.
• A commitment to education.
• Advanced communication skills with patients and colleagues.
• Experience in bariatric surgery.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Board certification in general surgery or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a bariatric surgery fellowship.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong interest in clinical research.
