About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Operator to join our dynamic team at the Memphis, TN site. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, safety awareness, and teamwork skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform all job duties in accordance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Complete field activities such as valve opening/closing, pump starting/stopping, hose connection/disconnection, and equipment decontamination.
- Prepare for and perform startup, operation, shutdown, and emergency shutdown procedures.
- Load and unload tank cars with monomer and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ACH).
- Perform pressure tests on tank wagons and tank cars.
- Lance and ream boiler tubes, keep equipment neat, and ensure safety.
- Conduct routine checks on equipment, pumps, instruments, etc.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
- Minimum high school education or GED.
- Associates degree in Process Operating Technology or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of operating experience in a chemical plant environment.
- Must achieve an acceptable score on WorkKeys assessments in Applied Math, Applied Technology, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associates degree in Process Operating Technology or related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a chemical plant setting.
- Ability to pass WorkKeys assessments in Applied Math, Applied Technology, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Skills

Pay
The salary for this position is $28.17 per hour. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, and market and business considerations may influence the base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (based on a specific city and state) if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
Schedule
Full-time position with flexible hours to support shift work.
