About the role
The Assistant Operations Manager oversees all aspects of facility operations at two venues: Acrisure Amphitheater and Van Andel Arena. This role involves managing front and back-of-house operations, preventive maintenance, third-party contracting, staffing, venue setup/tear-down, and coordinating with other building departments and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and supervise full-time, part-time, and temporary staff.
- Assist the Operations Manager and Director in directing, supervising, and scheduling all aspects of operations, including building and grounds; technical services; event services, including ADA compliance; public safety; security; custodial services, and parking departments.
- Coordinate operations activities with other building departments and show-related contractors.
- Implement facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Anticipate problems and appropriate solutions, investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to other departments.
- Ensure that operations department receives pertinent information for most effective use of the facility and staffing.
- Lead or hire outside contractors or facility full and part-time staff for groundskeeping duties such as landscaping and debris cleanup.
- Ensure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.
- Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies.
- Manage the Master MSDS log in the building.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from a technical college with a major in Management or Maintenance Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in supervising or managing in a similar facility.
- Supervisory experience preferred.

- Requires ability to work flexible hours, including day, night, and overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
