About the role

The Manager-Assistant Nurse (ANM) is a participating member of the Nursing Leadership Team, responsible for eliminating barriers between departments and facilities. They provide leadership to assigned department professional nursing staff, participate in budget development and implementation, foster positive relationships, and support clinical and service programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development and implementation of the budget, including capital and operating budgets.
  • Support the achievement of capital and operating budget objectives within areas of responsibility.
  • Foster positive relationships with physicians, other nurse leaders, and associates of assigned department.
  • Ensure effective daily operations of the nursing unit(s) by monitoring all activities necessary to provide consistent, high quality patient care.
  • Ensure nursing unit(s) is in a state of continued regulatory readiness by adhering to all appropriate legal and ethical requirements.
  • Collaborate in setting the NGHS nursing strategic direction and focusing on activities that support nursing initiatives.
  • Ensure nursing involvement and support for the Professional Nursing Governance structure, including a Unit Practice Council for every unit under his/her span of control.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
  • National certification in either a clinical or leadership specialty within two (2) years of hire.
  • Absolutely must be enrolled in a BSN program within 6 months of hire and complete BSN within three years of hire into the position.
  • Professional organization membership.

Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. National certification in either a clinical or leadership specialty within two (2) years of hire.
  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree. Must be enrolled in a BSN program within 6 months of hire. Must complete BSN within three years of hire into the position.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of 5 years RN experience and has an ADN degree OR minimum of 3 years RN experience and has a BSN or higher degree.

  • Strong knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations governing nursing practice.
  • Sound, independent judgement in adapting and applying leadership and clinical principles.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills and service recovery.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees.
  • Ability to provide specialty nursing care to patients.
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff.
  • Ability to tailor communication and performance feedback to individual employees.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people, including answering questions and explaining information and decisions.
  • Ability to coordinate patient care services with other departments.
  • Ability to provide direct patient care as needed.
  • Ability to proactively address potential customer service issues.
  • Ability to engage directly with physicians and staff to ensure adherence to evidence-based practice standards and organizational priorities.
  • Ability to assess, coach, and evaluate staff’s level of clinical practice.
  • Ability to conduct/complete environment of care assessments.
  • Ability to complete mentoring class and assist with mentoring of Registered Nurses.

Pay

Compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Details will be provided upon interview.
