The Assistant Nurse Manager - Operating Room position is a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Surgical Services. The salary range for this role is $64.55 – $96.83, with the hiring rate dependent on various factors including education, training, work experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

About the Role

This position provides managerial assistance to the Nurse Manager, supporting areas such as hiring, staffing and scheduling, orientation, performance assessment, budget monitoring, maintaining and establishing patient care standards, policies and procedures. It also involves promoting a safety climate on the unit, leading and communicating effectively, and assisting with evaluations and budget monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates compassion, respect, and caring while providing individualized, safe, and efficient care to patients and their families.
• Proactively implements measures to promote a safety climate on the unit, considering the inter-relationship of people, tools, and environment.
• Provides leadership, management, and communication skills to the department.
• Assists the Nurse Manager in planning, recommending, and implementing clinical service delivery.
• Recommends policy changes to enhance nursing performance.
• Affords support in staff supervision, counseling, and documentation of personnel actions.
• Affords assistance in evaluating work performance and conducting performance assessments.
• Promotes, establishes, and maintains open communication.
• Affords support in budget monitoring.
• Affords supervision and direction of the department Clinical Educator.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing (Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years applicable nursing experience in an OR (Preferred: Minimum of 2 years supervisory/leadership experience in healthcare organization, Preferred: Financial and budgetary experience)
• Credentials: Registered Nurse in state of practice (Required: Basic Life Support)
• Skills: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills (Preferred), Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal (Preferred), Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications (Required)
