Assistant Nurse Manager, Full Time, Evenings, Bed Management, Atlantic Health Clinical Operations Center

Provides direction and leadership to the nursing team during crisis and emergency situations. Manages staffing emergencies and call-outs during evening hours for the next day. Anticipates potential problem situations and intervenes to offset any adverse impact on the facility, unit, or clinical operations.
Promotes and maintains harmonious and effective relationships with nursing leadership during evening hours across the system. Develops collaborative models for structured communications and strategic, program, and quality initiatives.
Supports bed planning competencies for all team members and provides re-education during off-shifts. Conducts performance evaluations for the bed planning team and evening collaboration with off-shift managers at AHS medical centers daily.
Recognizes emergent maintenance requirements during off-shifts and weekends, communicating needs to nursing leadership. Provides support and escalation to PTC and Atlantic Ambulance for discharge planning needs during evening hours.
Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control capacity bottlenecks, as well as enhance capacity availability across the system or within particular hospitals. Ensures the team and leadership are aware of capacity situations.
Fosters exceptional public relations for the organization. Reports to the Nurse Manager for Clinical Operations and escalates concerns or issues at the sites or within the team.
Responsibilities
- Assure implementation of standards of professional practice, reviewing and revising protocols as necessary to reflect changes in practice and ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
- Develop and maintain a system-wide communication process with nursing leadership for consistent escalation.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations, OSHA, and JCAHO standards.
- Evaluate protocols for redesign opportunities to improve operations, reduce costs, minimize patient throughput delays, enhance service, and improve performance.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required).
- MSN (preferred).
- Current NJ (New Jersey) Registered Nurse License (required).
- Basic Life Support certification (required).
- 5 years of experience in Bed Management Nursing.
- HRO training (preferred).
