Assistant Merchant

Overview

Role Responsibilities:

• Aid the merchants in developing merchandise assortments by category, collaborating on all aspects.
• Sit with the merchant to review the Merchandise Assortment Process and discuss financials.
• Take ownership of in-season categories, monitoring performance, identifying opportunities and challenges, and making recommendations to drive business results.
• Create and maintain recommended merchandise floor and game plans for store locations.
• Ensure the accuracy of merchandising reports, assortment sheets, and receipts.
• Recommend and communicate inventory quantities, levels, and orders to the Allocations & Planning Departments to support strategic initiatives.
• Research economic, financial, market, competitive, and industry data to explain current trends and anticipate new trends or big ideas, including conducting market visits.
• Manage store communications regarding initiatives (varies by department).
• Train and mentor Merchandise Administrators, MTPs, and Interns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, merchandising, or a related field.
• One to three years of relevant experience, preferably as an Assistant Buyer.
