About the role

Berry College invites applications for the position of assistant men's & women's tennis coach. This role is an opportunity to be part of a program grounded in the college's mission, incorporating an integrated education of the head, the heart, and the hands. Berry challenges students to embrace a firsthand educational experience that complements challenging academic programs with meaningful student work experiences, spiritual and moral growth, and significant service to others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with the organization, supervision, and administration of an NCAA Division III intercollegiate tennis program.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to a liberal arts education and Division III athletics.
  • Adhere to all NCAA, Southern Athletic Association (SAA), and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Manage budget, practice and game preparation, scheduling, and compliance.
  • Handle public relations, alumni communication, and student work supervision.
  • Engage in fundraising and equipment management.
  • Support student-athletes' academic progress and degree completion.
  • Additional duties assigned based on the candidate's skill set and experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to create a disciplined and caring culture.
  • Commitment to mentoring student-athletes.
