About the Role

The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach supports the Head Coach in administering all aspects of the program, including coaching, recruiting, event scheduling, supervision of program personnel, budget management, student-athlete academic success, mentoring, team travel, equipment, meals, technical and video logistics, marketing, and compliance with NCAA and Big East rules and regulations. The Assistant Coach will model a positive coaching philosophy, foster a culture of respect and collaboration, and demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity.

Responsibilities

• Recruit quality student-athletes capable of pursuing a baccalaureate degree while managing a cost-effective and administratively efficient program.
• Demonstrate excellent teaching and coaching competencies in sport skill instruction, motivation, tactical strategies, and designing a competitive schedule that maximizes student-athlete development and performance.
• Provide leadership in the personal development of student-athletes, including social, emotional, and academic growth aligned with the University’s 4-D experience model.
• Coordinate daily operations such as team travel, recruiting logistics, equipment, meals, and technical logistics of software packages.
• Uphold the highest professional standards and ethical behavior in adherence to NCAA, Conference, University, and Division of Athletics rules and regulations.
• Maintain strong working relationships within the Division and the University.
• Assume other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor of Athletics & Ritchie Center Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Successful coaching experience.
• Successful recruiting of student-athletes committed to academic and athletic excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Successful collegiate coaching experience.

Skills

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including communication and public relations.
• In-depth understanding of lacrosse, from fundamental skills to advanced tactics and strategy.
• Ability to teach and educate student-athletes and coaching staff, staying current with new research and best practices.
• Passion for motivating and inspiring student-athletes to excel in academics and athletics.
• High professional standards, integrity, and ethical behavior regarding NCAA, Conference, University, and Division of Athletics rules.
• Flexibility and adaptability to an evolving athletic landscape.

Working Environment

• Standard office environment with moderate to high noise and stress levels, fluctuating through the season.
• Possible outdoor work in all types of weather.
• Frequent travel may be required.

Physical Activities

• Occasionally required to move about the office/campus, with the capability of transporting objects up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Involves both sedentary work and active coaching in various fitness environments.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $70,000–$75,000. The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate at the time of posting. The final salary will be determined based on qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, and market information, but not based on protected status.
