Assistant Meat/Seafood Manager

About the Role

As the Assistant Meat & Seafood Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service while managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store. This role involves assisting the Meat & Seafood Manager in overseeing department operations, ensuring product quality, and fostering a high-performing team in a fast-paced, friendly environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing and merchandising the Meat & Seafood department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Oversee ordering, inventory controls, and product quality.
• Supervise and lead the Meat & Seafood team, including hiring, training, and development.
• Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through planning, goal setting, and teamwork.
• Ensure knowledge of weekly ad items and assist with inventory and ordering.
• Enforce department practices for receiving, stocking, and unloading product to maintain freshness and quality.
• Follow "Clean as You Go" and "Fresh at 4" programs.
• Unload and sort store deliveries; operate and maintain meat & seafood equipment.
• Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
• Perform general housekeeping, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas (tables, floors, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
• Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, as well as company recipes.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, with proven leadership experience.
• 2-3 years of grocery retail experience in Meat department processes and procedures is highly preferred.
• Dependable, reliable, and able to perform other related duties as assigned.
• Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude and strong customer interaction skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously and a total of 8 hours per shift.
• Able to walk up to 2 miles per 8-hour shift.
• Good vision required for operating sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, and tenderizer.
• Able to lift and carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs., from 4” to 60”, a distance up to 10 feet for 20 hours.
• Able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs., requiring a force of up to 85 lbs., a distance up to 100 feet for up to 5 hours.
• Able to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force up to 25 lbs., for a distance up to 50 feet for up to 10 hours.
• Able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force greater than 35 lbs., a distance up to 2 feet for up to 1 hour.
