Assistant Meat/Seafood Manager

Responsibilities

• Assist the Meat & Seafood Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Meat & Seafood team.
• Effectively coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
• Assist in leading a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Meat & Seafood team.
• Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, assist with inventory and ordering, enforce department practices for receiving, stocking, and unloading to ensure freshness and quality, and follow “Clean as You Go” and “Fresh at 4” programs.
• Unload and sort store deliveries, operate, and maintain meat & seafood equipment.
• Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and verify that team members are aware of and follow these procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience, proven leadership experience, and 2‑3 years grocery retail experience in meat department processes and procedures (highly preferred).
• Dependable and reliable; able to perform other related duties as assigned.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior; positive attitude; ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication skills; ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
• Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, and company recipes.
• Capable of standing up to 4 hours continuously, total 8‑hour shift; walk up to 2 miles per shift; work in a temperature‑controlled area.
• Good vision required for using sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, and tenderizer.
• Ability to lift/carry products 25‑90 lb., 4”‑60”, up to 10 ft for 20 hours.
• Ability to use a pallet jack to move pallets up to 500 lb., force up to 85 lb., distance up to 100 ft for up to 5 hours.
• Ability to move racks of products weighing up to 70 lb., force up to 25 lb., distance up to 50 ft for up to 10 hours.
• Ability to move tables weighing up to 70 lb., force greater than 35 lb., distance up to 2 ft for up to 1 hour.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.50 – $29.15 per hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
