About the role

The Assistant Managing Clerk assists the Managing Attorney and Managing Clerk in rendering substantive procedural guidance to attorneys and staff at the Firm. This role ensures compliance with court rules and maintains accurate tracking of litigation deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in reviewing, preparing, and electronically filing in federal, state, appellate, and bankruptcy courts.
  • Analyze court documents for all deadlines applicable, offering guidance on court rules and litigation procedures to legal staff and attorneys.
  • Collaborate, manage, and oversee quality control and work product of other staff members, providing guidance to enhance efficiency and consistency in docketing and calendaring practices.
  • Liaise with court personnel and external vendors, coordinating services such as subpoenas and notices.
  • Selectively bill time as authorized by partners.
  • Draft legal procedural documents for review by attorneys.
  • Work with the Managing Clerk and Managing Attorney to stay updated on changes in procedures in federal and state courts and disseminate information, assisting with training of personnel.
  • Assist with supervising MCO staff alongside the Managing Clerk and Managing Attorney.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A preferred JD or relevant coursework in law is beneficial.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience are required.
  • Superior knowledge of New York, California, and federal rules of civil procedure is essential.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are needed, with the ability to make sound decisions and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment are required.
  • Strong electronic filing experience on various state and federal platforms is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of procedural research and litigation procedures is preferred.

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is non-exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
