Assistant Manager - Taxation & Accounts

Responsibilities

• Review ITRs prepared by team members before filing.
• Review GST Returns, TDS Returns and other statutory filings.
• Review finalization of books of accounts, Profit & Loss Accounts and Balance Sheets.
• Check calculations, reconciliations, supporting documents and compliance positions for accuracy.
• Identify errors, missing information and potential compliance risks before work is submitted or filed.
• Maintain a consistent standard of quality across assignments handled by the team.
• Supervise taxation and accounts assignments allocated to team members.
• Monitor pending work, statutory due dates and client deadlines.
• Review work completed by junior and mid-level team members.
• Guide team members in resolving taxation, accounting and compliance-related queries.
• Provide technical support and practical guidance wherever required.
• Identify recurring errors and help improve team processes and knowledge.
• Ensure proper ownership and closure of assignments.
• Handle and review Income Tax Return filings for individuals, businesses and companies.
• Handle Income Tax notices, submissions and related matters.
• Review GST registrations, returns, reconciliations and related compliance.
• Review TDS calculations, payments and return filings.
• Review accounting and finalization of books.
• Handle complex or escalated taxation and accounting assignments where required.
• Provide practical tax and compliance guidance to clients and internal teams.
• Coordinate with clients for technical matters, documents and clarifications.
• Resolve escalated client queries relating to taxation and accounts.
• Coordinate with internal execution and client-handling teams.
• Ensure that technical positions communicated to clients are accurate and consistent.
• Ensure timely completion and delivery of assigned work.

Requirements

• Qualified CA / Semi-Qualified CA / CA Dropout with strong relevant practical experience.
• Preferably 4-7 years of relevant experience, including Articleship where applicable.
• Strong practical knowledge of Income Tax, GST, TDS and accounting.
• Hands-on experience in ITR filing and review.
• Strong experience in finalization of accounts.
• Practical exposure to Income Tax matters, notices and submissions.
• Experience reviewing taxation/accounting work completed by other team members.
• Ability to identify technical and calculation errors.
• Ability to guide and supervise junior professionals.
• Strong understanding of statutory deadlines and compliance processes.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
• Experience with Zoho Books and/or QuickBooks will be an advantage.
• Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
