About the role
This role assists a Store Manager within a Simon Mall, working side by side to oversee store operations, staffing, customer satisfaction, product quality, financial performance, and team development. You'll help your team create a welcoming environment.
Principal responsibilities
- Demonstrate a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events, and manage smooth transitions thereafter to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the store team.
- Display a "customer comes first" attitude by training and holding team members accountable for delivering legendary customer service.
- Drive the implementation of company programs by developing action plans and directly motivating and instructing the store team to implement them to meet operational and organizational objectives.
- Manage with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks.
- Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate appropriate responsibilities and practices along with the Store Manager to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations.
- Provide coaching and direction to the store team to take action and to achieve operational goals.
- Constantly review store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to provide coaching and direction to the store team to achieve operational goals.
- Planning and Execution - Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, manage execution, and measure results:
- Monitor and manage store staffing levels to ensure team member development and talent acquisition to achieve and maintain store operational requirements.
- Utilize existing tools to identify and prioritize communications and regularly use discretion to filter communications to the store team.
- Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure effective store operations.
- Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to applicable wage and hour laws for nonexempt team members and minors.
- Use all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the store. Tools include Automated Labor Scheduling, Monthly Status Report, Quarterly Business Review, cash management and inventory management.
- Use discretion in accessing external resources to support store operations and to execute Simon Corporate and Starbucks initiatives.
- Utilize management information tools and analyze financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in store performance.
- Actively manage team members in collaboration with the Store Manager by regularly conducting performance assessments, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve team member performance.
- Manage ongoing team member performance using performance management.
Qualifications
- Progressively responsible retail experience (3 years)
- Experience analyzing financial reports
- Ability to manage store operations independently
- Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously
- Ability to manage resources ensuring established service levels are achieved at all times
- Knowledge of customer service techniques
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures
- Organization and planning skills
- Strong operational skills in a customer-service environment

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Physical requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–30 pounds, such as boxes of supplies, etc.
- Must be able to stand for 90% or more of a scheduled shift
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and kneeling as part of daily duties
- Role involves repetitive hand and arm movements
- Ability to safely handle hot liquids, steam, and equipment throughout the shift
- Manual hand dexterity for operating small tools, POS systems, and drink assembly
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment that may involve noise, heat, and close proximity to others
- Occasional pushing or pulling of carts, containers, or equipment
