About the role
Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a private, non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to support one of our residential homes.
Responsibilities
- Aid the manager in overseeing daily operations of the program, adhering to all company and state of CT policies and regulations.
- Assist in overseeing staff and scheduling for adequate coverage.
- Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals' goals and plans.
- Provide direct care for some shifts and to cover when DSPs are out.
- Participate in various meetings, programmatic and business meetings as requested.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities, and are protected from abuse or neglect.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Management experience is a nice to have.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least age 18.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
Skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work cooperatively with all BARC employees, individuals served, families, supervisors, and other providers or professionals.
- Willing and able to complete all essential responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of computers.
