About the role

Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a private, non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to support one of our residential homes.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the manager in overseeing daily operations of the program, adhering to all company and state of CT policies and regulations.
  • Assist in overseeing staff and scheduling for adequate coverage.
  • Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals' goals and plans.
  • Provide direct care for some shifts and to cover when DSPs are out.
  • Participate in various meetings, programmatic and business meetings as requested.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities, and are protected from abuse or neglect.
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Management experience is a nice to have.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least age 18.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work cooperatively with all BARC employees, individuals served, families, supervisors, and other providers or professionals.
  • Willing and able to complete all essential responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
