About the Role

We are a fully remote organization with team members in over 20 states within the U.S. You may work from home, a local coffee shop, or anywhere in the U.S. that brings you joy. Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin. H1-B sponsorship is not available for this role.

The salary range for this position is $62,000 to $65,000 based on experience.

This role strengthens chapter engagement, supports volunteer leadership, oversees chapter operations, and fosters collaboration between AMA staff and Professional Chapters. It maintains the relationship between AMA and its Professional Chapters by overseeing operations, supporting volunteer leaders, organizing community-driven events, and cultivating a sense of community among marketers.

Responsibilities

  • Chapter Operations + Support
    • Monitors and supports the overall health and operations of AMA’s Professional Chapters, ensuring volunteer leaders have the resources needed to serve their local communities in alignment with AMA’s mission and in compliance with federal and state laws.
    • Serves as the first point of contact for Professional Chapter leaders, providing timely assistance, resolving operational issues, and connecting volunteers with AMA resources.
    • Creates and maintains chapter communications, newsletters, training materials, operational guides, and other resources to enable volunteer leaders to fulfill their roles successfully.
    • Manages the Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) and Ric Sweeney Chapter Volunteer of the Year Award, including maintaining award processes, developing communications, coordinating submissions and judging, analyzing results, and managing recognition activities.
    • Supports PCC meeting planning and special events, including scheduling, logistics, accommodations, meeting materials, note-taking, and follow-up communications with guidance from the Senior Director, Membership.
    • Monitors chapter performance and organizational health by maintaining internal and external data, preparing reports, and partnering with the Professional Chapters Council (PCC) to support all chapters, particularly those needing additional guidance.
  • Volunteer Leadership + Engagement
    • Develops and implements initiatives that strengthen volunteer engagement, collaboration, leadership development, and knowledge sharing across the Professional Chapter community.
    • Facilitates effective communication and collaboration between AMA staff and volunteer leaders, fostering trust, transparency, and mutual understanding.
    • Coordinates volunteer onboarding, leadership training, Leadership Labs, and other learning opportunities in partnership with the PCC and internal AMA teams, including Marketing, Professional Development, and Alliances.
  • Chapter Growth + Process Improvement
    • Identifies and implements improvements to chapter programs, policies, and operational processes to enhance the volunteer experience and organizational effectiveness.
    • Partners with the Senior Director, Membership and cross-functional teams to identify and implement opportunities that strengthen member engagement, support membership growth and retention, and leverage Professional Chapters as a key touchpoint in the AMA member experience.
    • Responds to chapter inquiries and provides guidance on chapter operations, development, growth, and revitalization in collaboration with the PCC.
    • Builds and maintains strong relationships with volunteer leaders and community stakeholders by supporting the PCC, administering volunteer recognition programs, and coordinating appreciation initiatives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years working in a non-profit organization or in volunteer management
  • 3-5 years working in customer service
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets)
  • Effective relationship builder with a commitment to cultivating trust and understanding
  • Clear and inclusive written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and resourceful, with a keen eye for detail
  • Self-starter with an eagerness to keep learning
  • Competence in database management (Salesforce)
  • Competence in managing website content via CMS (such as WordPress or Payload)
