About the role

The Assistant Manager is responsible for running the day-to-day operational excellence of the branch, managing a team of approximately 3 full-time employees, and ensuring consistent support and guidance at the Community Financial Center. As the "go-to person" for the center, you will conduct thorough financial assessments to recommend appropriate products and services, fulfilling members' immediate and future financial goals. You will generate leads, build and maintain member relationships, and ensure a great member experience. Additionally, you will generate leads for internal partners such as Mortgage, Business Services, Investments, and Insurance Services.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and empower the sales team to achieve high performance and meet objectives set by leadership.
  • Train, manage, and prepare timely evaluations for assigned staff, ensuring adherence to Credit Union and departmental standards.
  • Practice Integrity coaching principles and demonstrate key behavior models to drive success.
  • Assist in succession planning, recruitment, and retention of qualified sales and service professionals.
  • Monitor and address performance issues promptly and fairly.
  • Lead the team in supporting local community initiatives to create a stronger and healthier place to live and work.
  • Review and analyze sales activity and forecast data to support strategic initiatives and achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain frequent communication with the Branch Manager on overall branch activities and progress.
  • Ensure high member engagement by delivering a value-added experience (The Member Advantage).
  • Maintain high member readiness standards, including a clean and accommodating environment.
  • Use lobby leadership to manage member traffic, integrating virtual channels such as Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), tablets, smartphones, and ATMs.
  • Ensure employees provide quality member service and recommend GTE Financial products that meet member expectations.
  • Adhere to GTE’s Branding “Brandtastic” standards in collaboration with the Operations Support Team.
  • Focus on quality control and process improvements.
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and other Federal laws, including the U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
  • Qualify for NMLS registration according to the Safe Act.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a financial institution or related field, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of lending practices, including interpretation of credit bureau reports, underwriting criteria, and basic lending philosophy.
  • Qualify for or hold Level II lending authority as prescribed by GTE Financial Consumer Lending.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Schedule

Full-time position with department hours of Monday–Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Additional hours may be required to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.

Location: Downtown Tampa – GTE Headquarters
