About the role

A day in the life as an Assistant Sales Department Manager involves recruiting, hiring, training, and motivating your team to ensure their success. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and productivity goals by developing and executing a business plan, while also ensuring outstanding customer service through coaching and leading by example. Additionally, you will work to meet merchandising and presentation standards, build customer relationships, and assist with inventory management and shrinkage goals.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, develop, and motivate your sales team.
• Assist the department manager in achieving department volume and productivity goals by developing and executing a business plan.
• Ensure salespeople deliver outstanding customer service through teaching, coaching, and leading by example.
• Work with the department manager to maintain merchandising and presentation standards.
• Build long-lasting customer relationships and create a loyal customer following by actively selling on the floor.
• Assist in ensuring accurate inventory management and achieving shrinkage goals.

Requirements

• A track record of successful results, such as strong productivity or personal trade.
• Competitive drive and entrepreneurial confidence to succeed in a commission-based environment.
• Ability to set and achieve sales goals.
• Experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with department and store managers, divisional retail merchandisers, and other leaders.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
• A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Pay

The pay range for this position is $34,500.00 - $56,000.00 annually. Pay offers depend on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Commission varies based on the merchandise sold: apparel, shoes, and accessories sales typically range from 3% to 14.5%, while Beauty and Men’s Fragrance sales typically receive a 3% commission. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentives or bonuses.
