Assistant Manager - Lead
About the role
The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager in managing all day-to-day store operations while ensuring compliance with established company policies and procedures. Provides leadership, guidance, and training to store staff under the direction of the Store Manager. In the absence of the Store Manager, assumes total responsibility for all store operations and strives to meet and exceed sales, service, and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and welfare of employees and customers.
- Create, establish, and maintain an excellent customer shopping experience.
- Maintain and reinforce current service level standards; provide service training and leadership to staff.
- Manage customer issues with urgency and to customer satisfaction.
- Oversee all POS terminal transactions, including sales, discounts, refunds, loyalty programs, and open/closing procedures.
- Manage inventory control, including shipping and receiving, price management (price changes, markdowns), handling singles and damaged merchandise, and conducting physical inventory.
- Maintain sales floor merchandising and visual presentation, including merchandise placement, floor maintenance, housekeeping, and promotional event setup.
- Control payroll by adhering to scheduling, budget compliance, and time and attendance policies.
- Train and develop direct reports using available training tools and reinforce operational standards.
- Uphold loss prevention policies to protect and control company assets.
- Work toward a complete understanding of managing all day-to-day operations.
Principal Working Relationships
Interacts with customers, sales associates, store management, district/regional managers, and store operations and training personnel.
Requirements
- An approved background check.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong interpersonal skills for customer and employee interactions.
- Strong visual merchandising skills.
- Working knowledge of footwear, accessories, and shoe care.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of corporate and store operations policies and procedures.
- A complete understanding of store presentation standards and visual merchandising.
Pay
$20.18 - $29.26 hourly.
