Responsibilities
- Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day store activities.
- Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns.
- Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor as needed; maintain seasonal areas.
- Perform opening and closing procedures as required.
- Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
- Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
- Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
- Maintain store areas to company standards, ensuring a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
- Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure associates follow company policies.
- Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
- Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional and friendly interactions among customers, associates, and leaders.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
- Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug‑store environment preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 55 lb. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment.
- Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- May be required to provide detailed background information for specialized alcohol/tobacco licenses; failure to comply can result in demotion or separation.
