Job Summary
The Assistant Manager - Dyeing will be responsible for leading and managing the wet processing operations of sewing thread manufacturing, ensuring achievement of production targets, quality standards, cost optimization, sustainability compliance, and continuous process improvement. The role requires expertise in HTHP Package Dyeing Machines, shade management, dyeing process control, production planning, and team leadership to drive operational excellence and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute production schedules for package dyeing operations to maximize machine utilization and productivity.
- Ensure achievement of production, quality, and delivery targets while minimizing machine idle time.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Machine Utilization, RFT%, Re-dyeing %, Rejection %, Manpower Productivity, and Operator Efficiency.
- Optimize process parameters to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Drive initiatives to reduce consumption of chemicals, steam, water, electricity, and wastewater generation.
- Manage dyeing processes to achieve desired shades and quality standards consistently.
- Monitor recipe development, shade approvals, and color matching activities using Computer Color Matching (CCM) systems.
- Ensure compliance with thread specifications, color fastness requirements, and quality assurance standards.
- Identify process deviations and shopfloor abnormalities and implement timely corrective actions.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for process-related issues.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality enhancement, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards across dyeing operations.
- Support sustainability initiatives related to responsible chemical management and resource conservation.
- Maintain awareness and adherence to industry compliance standards including ZDHC, Higg Index, OEKO-TEX, RSLs, and MRSLs.
- Lead, train, mentor, and supervise dyeing operators, supervisors, and technicians.
- Develop team capabilities through structured training and skill development programs.
- Foster a culture of discipline, engagement, safety, and performance excellence.
- Coordinate effectively with Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Utility, and other cross-functional teams.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers regarding production and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- B.Tech in Textile Chemistry/Processing
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Package Dyeing operations
- Hands-on experience in operating and managing HTHP (High Temperature High Pressure) Package Dyeing Machines is mandatory
- Experience in Sewing Thread/Thread Manufacturing Industry will be highly preferred
- Experience in Computer Color Matching (CCM) systems
- Proven experience in production planning, process optimization, RCA, CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Exposure to sustainability and compliance requirements within textile wet processing operations
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of yarns, dyestuffs, auxiliary chemicals, water quality parameters, and thread specifications
- Expertise in package dyeing processes, shade management, and dyeing process control
- Strong understanding of HTHP Package Dyeing Machines
- Proficiency in Computer Color Matching (CCM) systems
- Knowledge of color fastness testing methods and quality assurance systems
- RCA and CAPA implementation skills
- Production planning and process improvement expertise
- Understanding of RSLs and MRSLs
- Familiarity with ZDHC, Higg Index, and OEKO-TEX requirements
- Knowledge of EHS standards and sustainable manufacturing practices
Additional Requirements: Willingness to relocate and stay near the Achutapuram plant location. Preference for candidates willing to relocate. Flexibility to work in a manufacturing environment and support business requirements as needed.
