About the role
Lions International is seeking an Assistant Manager - Claims & Grant Processing to join its Finance Division team. This role focuses on managing expense claims and grants processing, ensuring compliance with GAAP and Board Policy, and supporting the annual audit.
Responsibilities
- Manages employees within the immediate team, assigning work/projects, reviewing work product, processes, and financial controls.
- Develops and performs management and performance evaluations for direct reports at headquarters.
- Maintains department productivity and quality standards; resolves operational issues.
- Maintains and communicates budgeting and spending trends and analysis for Claims, Compliance, Grants Administration, and other finance/operations areas.
- Maintains and manages information systems such as databases or other programs to manage department information.
- Maintains quality services by recommending, following, and enforcing department and organization standards.
- Takes on department projects as they arise, preparing and/or reviewing reports or other data as necessary to communicate and evaluate information/metrics on a regular basis.
- Serves as advisor and/or provides technical/supervisory support to others within the finance and operations teams as needed, educating staff on department policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with other departments across the organization to identify and address opportunities for streamlining and/or improving financial and/or operational processes.
- Develops and recommends operational standards, policies, and procedures with guidance from the department manager.
- Develops and administers programs and processes to improve the financial control and compliance environment.
- Analyzes costs and benefits of alternative projects and chooses those that align with association objectives.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and training sessions, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
- Disseminates information used in decision-making by the Board or a committee of the Board.
- Ensures compliance with headquarters human resources policies and procedures.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- High school diploma with an equivalent combination of experience may be considered.
- 2 years of supervisory/people management experience in any space.
- 5 years of experience in accounting and/or finance.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- A process/solutions-driven mindset.
- CPA Certification preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce and/or SAP a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.

- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Pay
Exempt: $65,000-70,000
