About the role
The Assistant Manager, Business Planning Section supports the Manager in driving business planning, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and CAPEX oversight to enable timely, data-driven decisions for the OTSM Project. This role prepares analyses and management reports, contributes to strategy and feasibility work, partners with cross-functional teams, and ensures adherence to financial controls and corporate governance.
Work Location: Samalaju Plant (OTSM Sdn Bhd)
Responsibilities
- Support business planning through analysis, feasibility studies, and market research.
- Assist in evaluating new projects, improvements, and investment proposals.
- Prepare analysis and reports for management review.
- Help prepare management reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Support consolidation and analysis of regular reports.
- Track performance and highlight key variances.
- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasts.
- Monitor actual results against budgets and forecasts.
- Provide ad hoc reports and analysis when needed.
- Monitor CAPEX spending against approved budgets.
- Assist with CAPEX completion and post-project reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years’ relevant experience in business planning, corporate finance, or similar roles; experience in manufacturing or heavy industry preferred.
- Strong financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting skills; proven ability to prepare and present clear executive-level materials.
- Experience supporting CAPEX governance and capital project evaluations.
- Proven analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Experience with ERP and planning systems is desirable; proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions and to coach or supervise junior team members.
