About the role

Oversee the operations in a hotel-type setting, ensuring smooth daily functions across multiple departments while maintaining budget parameters and high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with Department Heads on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to discuss operations, staffing, and training.
  • Ensure Maintenance operates within budget and monitor performance daily/weekly.
  • Work closely with the Front Desk to ensure optimal customer service, overseeing scheduling and operations.
  • Engage hands-on in each department daily as required.
  • Handle customer issues and resolve situations as they arise.
  • Operate within company policies and procedures regularly.
  • Liaise continuously with the Lodge Manager to provide feedback and seek assistance.
  • Prepare reports and conduct weekly Department Head Meetings.
  • Manage budget allocations and labor costs in each department.
  • Provide backup to the Front Desk during busy periods.
  • Work closely with the Accounting department to ensure A/R is updated and provide feedback as needed.
  • Use Microsoft Outlook for communication across all areas.
  • Attend and execute Health and Safety meetings at the Lodge.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on staffing, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee the management of staff accommodation, ensuring compliance with policies and Residential Tenancy rules.
  • Demonstrate leadership by understanding every department’s operations and stepping in to cover when needed (e.g., Food and Beverage serving, hosting, banquet planning, providing input to the Chef based on customer feedback).
  • Assist staff daily in understanding policies and procedures, ensuring fair and equal treatment; address performance issues promptly to prevent destructive behavior.
  • Understand the dynamics of a transient workforce, seasonal business, labor costs vs. revenue, and customer needs; work with HR to provide growth opportunities where appropriate.
  • Handle other duties as they arise.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability and experience handling emergency situations.
  • 4-5 years’ experience as a Manager in a multi-departmental environment preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism expected at all times.
  • Experience with budgets and labor costing.
  • Previous experience working in various operational areas within a hotel-type setting.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, in English.
