Assistant Manager

About the role

A Carter Lumber Assistant Manager focuses on and implements daily store operations including selling and providing professional customer service to contractors and do-it-yourselfers. This involves following the direction set in areas like foundation, inventory, sales, and profit.

Responsibilities

• Store Operations - Assists in managing and implementing overall store direction. Oversees inventory management, safety requirements, and policies and procedures. Communicates sales and profit goals to support the team.
• Staff Management - Sets direction and manages employment areas such as hiring, communication, motivation, discipline, separation, and more. Ensures goals are outlined for employees and are met.
• Sales & Relationship Building - Manages inside sales program growth by ensuring timely completion of estimates and material take-offs, maintaining successful customer relationships and services, and effectively resolving customer complaints.
• Knowledge & Training - Identifies personal growth needs and learning opportunities. Completes required training and encourages employee career development.

Requirements

• Previous retail management experience, preferably in the building materials industry
• Previous experience selling installed sales and to contractors is preferred
• Proven track record in sales management, preferably in the building materials industry
• Ability to direct and train others effectively as a team leader
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and profitability
• Well-developed problem-solving abilities and strong conflict resolution skills
