About the role
An Assistant Manager supports the Practice Managers in overseeing all day-to-day store operations. They supervise all practice employees, ensure AEG policies and procedures are followed, enforce standards, and meet patients' needs.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all practice employees
- Ensure AEG policies and procedures are followed
- Enforce standards
- Meet patients' needs
- Works on the sales floor assisting Opticians with sales and troubleshooting
- Assists in resolving customer service issues, issuing refunds to patients
- Signs off on spectacle remakes
- Maintains patient flow, ensuring on-time practice performance
- Monitors associate break times, ensuring breaks are taken according to law and company policy
- Interviews and selects new practice employees
- Participates in disciplinary actions if necessary
- Documents and escalates employee relations issues
- Resolves conflicts between associates
- Organizes and leads staff meetings
- Provides ongoing feedback to employees
- Facilitates training for new team members
- Demonstrates cost awareness and suggests improvements
- Maintains associates' opening and closing duties, ensuring store cleanliness, organization, and stock
- Participates in annual store inventory
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ABO Certification preferred but not necessary
- Extensive optical experience required
- Experience with customer service and/or sales
- Management experience preferred
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Computer literacy and data entry abilities
- Ability to read and understand basic financial statements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand up to 8 hours a day
