About the role

Assists in the set-up and operation of a Slitting Machine to produce a quality product in accordance with predetermined specifications and production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Slitter Operator in set-up, loading, adjusting, operation, and unloading of the slitter to produce a quality, on-time product with efficiency.
• Help maintain accuracy and traceability throughout customer orders.
• Maintain customer specifications throughout the order process.
• Maintain accuracy of product weighing.
• Palletize material to customer specifications.
• Cut up and properly identify rework.
• Maintain proper safety and housekeeping practices at all times.
• May act as operator in the Slitter Operator’s absence.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand and walk.
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
