Under general supervision, performs school-based work assisting the assigned teacher by supporting students in employment-related activities as defined by the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Work with individual students or small groups of students participating in community-based training (CBT) and paid employment
- Assist in planning individual and/or group employment activities
- Observe behavior while students participate in employment and CBT activities; assist teacher in developing and maintaining behavior management plan
- Follow up with job sites and school staff regarding student performance and behavior
- Assist in monitoring student performance
- Prepare appropriate materials
- Assist in setting up and maintaining job setting
- Prepare notes and collect data to support curriculum
- Assist in clerical duties
- Alert the teacher to problems or special information about individual students as needed
- Participate in training programs for professional growth
- Perform related work as assigned or required
Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Associate's degree with a concentration in Education preferred
- At Title I schools, completion of an Associates degree or two years of higher education or ability to pass Workkeys & 96 Hours Professional Development required
- Two (2) years working with school age children preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
Skills
- Knowledge of existing policies and procedures with the ability to follow policies and procedures while accomplishing assigned tasks
- Skilled in communication, both verbal and in writing
- Ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
- Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
Pay
Pay Grade NC 07B, hourly non-certified
Schedule
Full-time, 9 months
Reports to: Principal
Place of work: On the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The district reserves the right to require work at other locations as reasonably needed.
